Canoeing & Rafting

Canoeing It is an enchanting moment when on safari, you glide across placid papyrus waterways in the Okavango or along the soothing flow of the river valleys in Malawi. The enchantment takes over, as if in a dream, you become part of the landscape and all the elephants, hippos, buffalo and even crocodiles go about their business undisturbed by your presence.

The serenity felt after paddling your way out and drifting within the golden flicker of water as the sun kisses the horizon and sets beneath it. However, southern Africa has a few places that do not quite equate canoeing or kayaking with gentle drifting and soothing flow.

The Usotho River in Swaziland, Tugela in KwaZulu-Natal, the Zambezi Gorge in Zambia and both the Breede and Orange rivers in South Africa are perfect for all white river rafting enthusiasts. It is all about the speed as water gushes around you, rapids rolling and pushing you into states of excitement. Not to mention, South Africa has some famous world class canoe races; the Dusi Canoe Marathon race is the largest of its kind in the world and the country also hosts the Berg River Canoe Marathon, both held annually.
